Since 1990, ReproMed has been providing sperm banking services throughout Canada, the United States, Latin America and abroad. ReproMed has maintained its premier position in the field of freezing human sperm due to its stringent quality control, innovative research and personal approach to fertility treatment. ReproMed also offers Designated (Known) Donor Semen, Anonymous & Known Donor Eggs, and Client Depositor programmes. All programmes are run in full compliance with applicable FDA/Health Canada Semen Regulations and the Assisted Human Reproduction (AHR) Act. ReproMed is licensed by Health Canada as a processor, distributor, importer and exporter of human semen for assisted reproduction.
As pioneers in the field of sperm banking in Canada, ReproMed staff has always sought ways to keep the community informed of our activities and discoveries as we seek new and more effective means for freezing, storing, transporting and tracking the clinical success of frozen sperm. ReproMed’s Medical Advisory Committee actively provides medical and technical advice. Its members have experience and expertise in genetics, infertility, urology, assisted reproduction, cryobiology, psychology, law and religion. Although we've helped make the use of frozen sperm for assisted reproductive procedures commonplace, we are currently working to refine the methods of freezing and storing human eggs, ovarian tissue, embryos and umbilical cord blood. Our goal as the leader in the field of cryopreservation is to use the expertise and knowledge we have gained to give life to others.
There are three main areas to Sperm Banking:
| 1. |
Anonymous Donor Program with quarantine released, highly screened donor semen specimens. Donor non-identifying information includes our Data Assisted Donor Selection (D.A.D.S.™) consultations, Profiles, and Donor Likeness Photos. |
| 2. |
Designated or Known Donor whereby you ask someone known to you to become your personal donor. The donor and specimens are screened and quarantined for your use only. |
| 3. |
Sperm Storage where freezing and storing of your own semen for future use takes place. This service is geared towards cancer patients prior to undergoing radiation, chemotherapy or medication, pre-vasectomy, high risk occupations such as firefighters, police officers, military soldiers, professional athletes, pre-surgery or medical treatments, extended travel or absence of male partner during ovulation time. |
