The Toronto Institute for Reproductive Medicine - ReproMed acknowledges the many issues and concerns associated with confidentiality and privacy issues related to utilizing anonymous donor gamete. Our experiences in this complex issue has led us to a strict policy of confidentiality and privacy in the relationship between the anonymous gamete donor ("donor") and the mother, the parenting father, and resultant offspring. Our Privacy Policy protects the confidentiality of all parties involved in donor insemination. It is The Toronto Institute for Reproductive Medicine’s Privacy Policy that:
The confidentiality of all participants is paramount. Donors are never allowed to learn the identity of the recipient or resultant offspring, and recipients or resultant offspring are never allowed to learn the identity of the donor unless:
* Upon notarized authorization and identification if a resultant donor insemination offspring, at the age of 18 or older, wishes to obtain further non-identifying or identifying donor information, we will make a reasonable effort to furnish any additional non-identifying information either from our records or by attempting to locate the donor in the case of disclosure.
*Donor records will not be destroyed.
